Choosing the Right System

If I just invested in that system…

How many times have you dug in, soaked up, or heavily researched what systems one of your favorite internet people used? Or maybe you noticed the type of links they used in their email and thought “Ah, THAT’S what I need!”

Maybe the same way I thought buying a KitchenAid mixer would appoint me Star Baker for the week? (Honestly, it still might… I haven’t actually turned it on or used it yet. Whoops.)

Some of the most robust systems out there are absolute necessities for dealing with a lot of clients or subscribers or students, but they become equally overwhelming when implementing too soon. You may not know all the steps of the process that even need to be set up. You may not have the clarity on what you’re building to avoid redoing everything in six months time.

Systems work best (and you can pick the best one for you) when there’s a problem to solve. When you can see the benefits. Ideally you find something that can grow WITH you, either something that you can find value in even if you use a tenth of its features or something that has different subscription levels.

I’ll give you an example. This is part of the reason I signed up with Dubsado a few years ago. There were pain points in the workflow that could be addressed immediately – primarily have signed contracts. Having invoicing available at the same time along with partial payment options, with some other added features over what I had been using, made it a no-brainer. Have I set up any workflows or automations? Nope. Do I think I ever will? Absolutely. Did I maybe procrastinate for several weeks (cough*months*cough) the beginning of the year thinking I needed everything in place before I launched anything? Yes, and that’s why I know you understand this. (Also,  #notanad)

Yes, there will come a time when it makes sense. But until then, the only way to ensure #nosoggybottoms is to be patient.
