What if you could reclaim your time for the meaningful work you first set out to provide?
By the end of last week, I was overwhelmed. I build myself around routine (even if it’s a very loose, Hobbit-esque routine) and a lot has been changing. But a lot of excess, of things I was doing or trying to maintain, have also quite easily fallen away.
As if we’ve all been given permission to take a (socially-distanced) breath. A small pause to decide what we really need and want. For me, taking that step from overwhelmed to invigorated usually starts with decluttering. A drawer (this morning), a closet (maybe in the near future), and just this past weekend half a dozen old accounts with services I was no longer using (or paying for) and two side projects that were taking more energy from me than I could warrant.
It doesn’t mean they were bad ideas, or that at some point I might revisit them. But right now, seeing them every time I logged into my regular accounts, sitting there just waiting for attention… It caused a heaviness every time and another choice on my plate, another distraction. So I deleted the domains, the shells of websites I had never finished, the social media accounts that really had never had posts. Zipped up any files I wanted to keep and deleted the rest. THEN emptied that Trash folder just to make sure.
What obstacles are you needlessly tripping over?
